KevHead #7 - Such as the set exists, 1991ish

Here is the final KevHead, with errors intact.  It is shorter than previous editions, representing the exhaustion of the available funds from the initial setup of the KevHead fan club.  As a result of finances, even postage was unavailable for its distribution, so it existed only in mock up with the usual, literal, cut-and-paste method of pre-digital layout.  The template of a newsletter was intended to promote upcoming concerts and appearances for Kevin at WLUP.

The ultimate absorption of the parent radio station into an ESPN network and a realignment of the target demographic by Kevin's corporate owners resulted in his ultimate return to Grand Rapids, Michigan for the morning slot on his breakthrough station, WLAV-FM.

And so it goes.....

KevHead #6 - 1991 again ....

Here is where the money began to run out - rather than 16 pages, KevHead the Magazine went to 12 pages, and the experiments with color on the cover were reduced to black and green.  Still managed to have fun with putting it together in the era of teleconferences and fax machines.  Something called "Prodigy" was my only "email" and gifs were just soooooo big at 32K.

Here is Number Six - number five is long lost

KevHead #4 - still more from 1991

A quarter of a century, and these things are still in a box, unmolested by mice.  Either they are respectful of these scraps of paper, or they just have better taste in chewing material.

There is no KevHead #5 in the box, however.  I'm absolutely unsure what happened with that one. It might have just been a collection of photos from his Jim Shorts Golf Outing that spring.  All that I seem to have are just little scraps and handwritten layout pages.

But here is Number Four!!!

The Crackerbarrels - ca 1990 - concept sketches

Developed with Kevin Matthews in tandem as a TV pilot or children's book concept, and it never really went beyond these few sketches.  So many distractions, and without internet access, too!

KevHead #3 - ca 1991

More from the archives...here, Kevin wanted things to look more like a "magazine" so we put the "KevHead" logo to rest for an issue:

Still, it's all blue grid layout paper, lots of glue sticks, and oh the nickishness of a fresh X-Acto blade!
